Our Story

At Pluck, our formula is simple:

Pluck is not your grandmother’s tea company. Our founder and tea sommelier travels the world sourcing premium tea leaves from Ethical Tea Partnership growers, and then adds unique local ingredients like Prince Edward County Lavender, Muskoka cranberries, blueberries, and grape skins from Southbrook Vineyards in Niagara. The result: one-of-a-kind premium teas that offer a truly unique and delicious taste of place.

Founded in 2012 by certified tea sommelier and passionate entrepreneur Jennifer Commins, Pluck first set out on a mission to fix tea in Toronto restaurants. Today, Pluck is known as a leading source for premium tea in Toronto, and provides signature infusions for leading restaurants, hotels, offices and retail partners from coast to coast in Canada. All of our products are blended and packaged locally in our facility in midtown Toronto, and we ship worldwide to a growing network of wholesale and retail customers.

We are thrilled to have been honoured by the international tea community at the 2017 Global Tea Championship with the silver medal for our Verbena Blues tea – a tea with locally grown lemon verbena that changes colour – and that challenges the notion of ‘tea as usual’.

Custom Tea

Looking for a little extra something to make your menu, brand or venue really pop? Select from our broad range of signature blends, or commission a one-of-a-kind masterpiece with our custom tea service. Visit our small batch blending facility and private tasting room, and work one-on-one with our Tea Sommelier to design a totally unique infusion. We can even help with custom packaging to complete your creation.

About Jennifer

Talk about passion. While most kids were playing tag and drawing pictures, Jennifer Commins spent her childhood collecting Red Rose tea sculptures and learning to blend the mint, thyme, sage, rosemary and lavender from her grandmother’s tea garden. After almost two decades in the design industry, Jennifer decided to follow her vision to start a modern loose-leaf tea company committed to social and environmental stewardship, as well as exceptional quality.

A Tea Sommelier by training and a member of the Tea Association of Canada, Jennifer is fiercely dedicated to celebrating local flavours by sourcing quality ingredients from nearby farms, and by developing unique and special blends inspired by the regions and cities she loves most. She works with chefs, restaurateurs and wine sommeliers to concoct new and unique tea experiences for Canada’s hottest restaurants. And yes – she still has the Red Rose sculpture collection.
